My husband is my hero in more ways than one. He has been by my side from day one, never missing an appointment and always making sure I am okay. I know that it isn’t always easy for him, especially when he is also trying to manage so many other things and the kiddo. He takes times out of each and every day to make sure that I am okay. The first few nights after chemo, I think he thought I might break. He slept with one arm on me and woke up asking if I was okay and making sure I didn’t need anything.
This weekend I am especially thankful for him. Our 8 year old came down with the stomach flu the first day of summer vacation. This man took the time to not only make sure he was okay and had everything he needed, but he went to great lengths to keep us separated. Part of me was so frustrated that sickness decided to plague our house- this weekend of all weekends! I had chemo 10 days ago and my doctor advised that day 7 – 10 I could feel fatigued which means some of my counts could be lower than normal making me more prone to getting sick. I am reminded that God is in control and I just need to give it to Him. One day at a time, one step at a time. To make things even more interesting, the day after my tot got over the stomach bug, he came down with pink eye. Thankfully it is a mild case.
My husband continues to be amazing – taking care of the tot and decontaminating the house. He even gave me the bed to myself, trying to take extra precautions so that I don’t get sick. This man is amazing, and I am so thankful for him. Sometimes we don’t give our significant others enough credit, or maybe no credit at all. My husband and I are both very type A- and I am sure that I drive him nuts haha! He has really shown how kind and caring he is through this whole situation, he is a hero
